1) Open the Printers and Faxes.

2) Right click on the MultiChax Virtual Printer and select Printing Preferences.

3) Click on the File Formats Tab and change your options like below (note: Disable Image).

4) Click OK to save and close the Printer Preferences.

5) Open QuickBooks (or any accounting program) and select Printer Setup, highlight form name “Check/Paycheck” and select the MultiChax Virtual Printer.

6) Click on Options for the Virtual Printer, and select the file formats tab.

7) Change the settings to match the setting above (note: Disable Image).

8) Click OK to save your settings.

WARNING: The following tip is for ADVANCED USERS ONLY. It requires you to make changes in the system’s registry, which could disable your machine if done incorrectly.

Tip # 2

1) Click on the Start Menu, and select the RUN command.

2) Type in “REGEDIT” without the quotes.

3) Click on the “+” symbols for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SOFTWARE, then MULTICHAX
Path is “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MultiChax\SearchInterval”

4) Click on the Search Interval Key, and double click on the “AB Default” icon on the right hand window panel.

5) Change the search interval field from “5000″ to “30000″ like the image below:

6) Click OK, and close the REGISTRY EDITOR.

The above error is usually shows when:

1) You are accessing MultiChax.exe while MCSetup.exe is running in the background, or vice versa. Close one application, before running the other. If the application seems to be closed or hiding, try opening the Windows Task Manager, and see if you can end the task.

2) The database directory is “WRITE PROTECTED”, and the files cannot be updated by your Windows login. See your local administrator to give you read/write/delete access to the program data directories.

3) You copied and moved your database to another machine and/or folder while the program was running. Common mistake, just make sure NOT to copy the “.LDB” (lock database) files to the new folder.

ERROR MESSAGE:

“Unable to connect to QuickBooks, HRESULT = XXXXXXXXXX (XXXXXXXX)

This application has not accessed this QuickBooks company data file before. The QuickBooks administrator must grant an application permission to access a QuickBooks company data file for the first time.”

If you are running the QuickBooks software from a server (terminal or citrix) or Windows Vista, please skip to Option #2.

Option # 1

1) Open QuickBooks, and open an existing company (or sample company).

2) Login to the company file as the “ADMIN” username.

3) Open MCSetup and select “I am running QuickBooks”.

4) An application certificate will appear if the connection has been made.

5) Grant the application MultiChax access to the company data file.

6) Continue in MCSetup.

Option # 2

1) Create a folder under the Program Files directory and call it “Quicken”, like so:
“C:\Program Files\Quicken”

2) Open notepad and save it as a blank text file under the Quicken directory above and name it “Quicken.ico” NOTE: Make sure to select “SAVE AS TYPE: All Files”

3. Once you have the file and folder saved correctly, open MCSetup.exe

4. Click on “I am running Quicken”

5. Click on “Validate Quicken Install”

6. Browse to the new Quicken folder and file, “C:\Program Files\Quicken\Quicken.ico”

NOTE: If you do not have proper permissions in Vista, the above will not work. Create the folder and file within another part of the computer, for example “C:\Quicken\Quicken.ico”

Use the following key to know what each field is on the check below: (double click on the image to see full size)
1. Account Name and Address
2. Logo
3. Bank Name and Address
4. Check Number
5. Amount in Numerals
6. Pay to the Order of
7. Amount Spelled Out
8. Check Date
9. Payee Name and Address
10. Signature image
11. Memo line
12. MICR line
13. Stub

The screenshot below displays the output settings for each of the fields (except the MICR line) displayed above. As noted each field uses settings in “inches.”

Each field has a default setting which is usually (zero) 0 for horizontal and vertical offsets. To adjust a field to the left or right, you need to subtract or add from the horizontal offset by the amount in inches you wish to move the default position. For example, if you wish to move a half-inch to the left and the horizontal offset is 0, you would change the horizontal offset to -0.5, and if you wish to move it to the right by a quarter of an inch from default position 0, your new setting will be 0.25.

If you needed to move a field up, you subtract from the original position by the amount in inches. One-tenth of an inch up from a default position of 0, would be -0.1. If you needed to move down , you would then be adding to the default value. For example, to move one-eighth of an inch down from 0, would be 0.125.

1. Open MCsetup.exe from the Start Menu > All Programs > MultiChx > MCsetup.exe

2. You may need to verify which accounting software you are using.

3. Double-click on the control that you wish to add banks to.

4. Click on “Select a bank.”

5. Click on “Add bank.”

6. Enter a unique (3)-digit number and then hit the “TAB” key.

7. You will get a warning message if you entered a number less than 100. You can ignore this if you are using MultiChax QuickBooks/Quicken Edition.

8. Enter your bank information carefully.
